Where Alabama Ranks Among Every College Football Program

Last week, the A.P. Poll released its version of the top 25, with Alabama coming in at No. 5 to begin their first season without Nick Saban as its head coach.

It is the lowest ranking to start the fall for the Crimson Tide since Saban's inaugural season.

Kalen DeBoer and company will try to prove that they aren't just a playoff contender but a team that can win the national championship.

The squad has pushed through a few weeks of fall camp, concluded two scrimmages, and watched more preseason rankings continue to trickle out.

The Athletic's Chris Vannini decided to rank each FBS team from 1-134 to showcase their position in the pecking order going into the 2024 season.

Just like the A.P. Poll, Alabama is ranked at No. 5 behind Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, and Oregon.

Vannini had this to say about DeBoer's first team in Tuscaloosa:

"Alabama begins a new era under Kalen DeBoer, and quarterback Jalen Milroe looked extremely confident at SEC media days," Vannini said.  "No longer battling for the job. Don’t be surprised if he (Milroe) takes another big step forward under this staff."

Milroe has discussed how this offense is tailored to him and his skill set, and that is precisely how DeBoer has run his offenses throughout his career.

DeBoer will most certainly tap into the other aspects of Milroe's game that need tuning, such as the short—to mid-range throws and coverage processing.

Although the Crimson Tide began the season underbanked compared to previous years, there are many reasons to believe this team can pass a few speedsters before crossing the finish line.
