Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals last season only to lose to Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks.

On Tuesday, comments made by Edwards on six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan and his era of competition began causing controversy.

"They say it was tougher back then than it is now. But I don't think anybody had skill back then," Edwards said according to the Wall Street Journal.

"(Michael Jordan) was really the only one that really had skill."

Edwards' take set off a chain reaction of fans who took issue with what he said on X.

"It's weird how little NBA players know about NBA history," one reader said.

"Wonder how he'll feel in 20 years when somebody says this about a player who isn't him," another fan added.

"Guess he never saw Penny Hardaway in his prime," another reader said.

Jordan played from the 1984-1985 season to 1997-1998, all with the Chicago Bulls. He took a year off in 1993-1994 and three years off after the Bulls' 1998 championship, their sixth during his time with the franchise.

Jordan finished out his career on the Washington Wizards for two seasons from 2001 to 2003.

He averaged 30.7 points per game over the first four years of his career, significantly higher than Edwards' 22.9 points per game over the first four years of his career.

"Love Ant...But Larry Bird was one of the most skilled ever," one fan added. "Don't do this."

"I think what he means is that MJ was ahead of his time," another reader added. "There wasn't any other MJs back then. Today, there are dozens of skilled players with similar skillsets to MJ."
