Paul Finebaum Predicts Preseason Top-Five Team Might Fire Its Coach This Season

The Ohio State Buckeyes may face the most pressure in college football this season. The Buckeyes went 11-2 in the last three seasons but have not won the Big Ten since 2020. Additionally, they have not beaten their archrival, the Michigan Wolverines, since then.

Ohio State also arguably has the most talented roster this season. The Buckeyes have returned 15 offense, defense and special team starters. Ohio State also added superstars from the transfer portal, such as former Alabama freshman All-American safety Caleb Downs and former Ole Miss first-team All-American running back Quinshon Judkins.

Paul Finebaum appeared on ESPN's " Get Up " and suggested that if Ryan Day were to lose to Michigan again, he could be fired.

"If he loses to Michigan, which would be four in a row, and somehow gets bounced out of the playoffs perhaps before the final game, I think the decision could be to get rid of him," Finebaum said.

Finebaum mentioned that he knows the statement sounds outrageous due to Day's impressive 56-8 record at Ohio State. However, if Day proves he can't win with his incredible roster, it's time to find someone who can.

Also, Michigan might be facing a tough year ahead. With the loss of head coach Jim Harbaugh and only six returning starters, they have the second-lowest number of returning starters in the conference. This puts pressure on Day to seize this opportunity to lead the Buckeyes past the Wolverines and back to college football prominence.
