With Kobe Bryant's birthday and Mamba Day coming up, legendary stories about the late Los Angeles Lakers star will surely be discussed anew.

Tales about his greatness will never get old, as Kobe's legacy transcended generations. His imprint in the NBA is still felt today, with many young players imbibing his famous "Mamba Mentality."

But aside from his on-court brilliance and work ethic, Kobe was also notorious for being extra hard on his teammates. He once said he didn't want to pass the ball because his teammates slacked off during practice, adding that he didn't trust them enough.

He's known for talking trash to his teammates. He felt he needed to toughen them up to help them in pressure-packed games.

On X, a video of Kobe's expletives-laden verbal attack on former Lakers guard Jeremy Lin in 2014 resurfaced. The five-time champion was matched up against Lin during a scrimmage and dared him to shoot.

"He don't want it," Kobe shouted. "This m*********er don't got s*** on me. You ain't got s*** on me. Go ahead, shoot!"

Lin proceeded to take the three-pointer but bricked it.

"F***** didn't even want to shoot that s***!," Kobe continued. "Talked his a** right into that b*******."

It could be argued that Kobe was extra harsh on Lin for dropping 38 points on him during the height of "Linsanity" when the latter was with the New York Knicks. Nevertheless, it was part of the former MVP's competitive streak.

The Lakers had an abysmal showing in the 2014-15 campaign, finishing with a 21-61 record. Kobe only played 35 games that season due to injuries, averaging 22.3 points per outing.

Kobe played one more season after that before calling it quits. He passed away in January 2020 due to a helicopter crash in California.
