Former Wisconsin Football Player Signs With Detroit Lions

The Wisconsin Football team is among the best teams in the nation putting players into the NFL. Entering preseason, the Badgers had over 30 former players competing for a job on an NFL roster.

Now, former Wisconsin cornerback Rachad Wildgoose has also found a new home at the professional level, signing a deal with the Detroit Lions.

Wildgoose played for the Badgers for three seasons from 2018-2020. He played in 26 career games for Wisconsin, tallying 57 total tackles, one interception, and 14 passes defended.

His best season came as a sophomore when ProFootball Focus gave him a 69.0 (average) grade. He was primed for a big junior season but played just two games before suffering an injury two games into the season, forcing him to miss the rest of the year.

Wildgoose entered the NFL Draft after the 2020 season and was taken in the sixth round by the Buffalo Bills.

Since he was drafted, Wildgoose has bounced around the league with the Bills, Jets, and Commanders. He even played a year with the Birmingham Stallions in the United Football League before landing in Detroit.

The Lions have had some injuries at the position, so bringing in Wildgoose could be to add some depth and practice bodies. Wildgoose will certainly have an uphill battle to make the Lions' 53-man roster.
