The Alabama Crimson Tide had one of the best dynasties in college football history under former head coach Nick Saban. However, following his retirement, the program is shifting directions this fall, with Kalen DeBoer taking over the reins.

ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum declared that the dynasty is "over" when asked about the team's future on Get Up.

"We've seen Georgia win twice and Michigan win once since Alabama last won a national championship," Finebaum explained. "So, yes, I would declare the dynasty done. It was done before Saban left. It's really done now that DeBoer is there."

Saban took over in Tuscaloosa in 2007, and the Crimson Tide won six national championships over his tenure as the head coach.

Finebaum later went on First Take and continued, "The college football world now revolves around Georgia, not Alabama... The dynasty is over and, quite frankly, it's been over for a couple of years."

Alabama has compiled the second-ranked recruiting class in the 2025 cycle, and DeBoer has quieted any concerns about difficulties maintaining Saban's standard in that regard.

The Crimson Tide have +1400 odds to win the national championship on FanDuel Sportsbook , ranking fifth in the country, so the betting market indicates all hope is not lost for Alabama this fall.

Alabama's season begins on Saturday, August 31, at 7:00 PM EST with a home game against Western Kentucky.
