ESPN SP+ Computer Model Predicts Outcome Of Every Week 0 Game

Saturday's Week 0 slate, the official kickoff of the 2024 college football season, is just a few sleeps away, and we now have SP+ predictions for the first set of matchups.

Week 0 is typically light and features just four games on Saturday this year. Georgia Tech and Florida State start the action across the Atlantic Ocean in Dublin, Ireland, before three more matchups bring us home.

ESPN's Bill Connelly, who created SP+, shared his model's prognostications on Twitter, which you can see just below. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll have a terribly exciting first day of the year.

Here are those same picks, spelled out. Plus, included in Connelly's Google sheet linked in the tweet was his win percentage chances for the favorites in each of the four games. Take a look:

    Final Score

Florida State 39, Georgia Tech 20

Montana State 34, New Mexico 20

    SMU 42, Nevada 15

    Hawaii 47, Delaware State 9

    Win Probability

    Florida State: 89%
    Montana State: 80%
    SMU: 95%
    Hawaii: 99%

Just about none of the games are expected to be close by Connelly's model, with some real blowouts coming later in the evening. In theory, the ACC matchup between Florida State and Georgia Tech ought to be the most intriguing, but the SP+ calls for a 19-point Seminole slaughter in front of the Irish.

Elsewhere, Montana State and New Mexico are the most competitive battle on the docket, but Connelly believes New Mexico will fall by two touchdowns on their own home turf against a robust MSU side.
