Noah Lyles made a lot of headlines during the 2024 Olympics. One of the reasons the American sprinter went viral was his little secret during his runs. An avid fan of the Japanese animated series "Yu-Gi-Oh", Lyles pulled out one of the popular cards from the franchise during the finals of his 100-meter race.

Lyles garnered a lot of fans for that small gesture, especially from fans of the "Yu-Gi-Oh" series and the card game. Many were inspired by his openness about his passions and his self-expression.

That goodwill from the fans has not worn off yet. In a recent post, Lyles told a story about how his love of Yu-Gi-Oh got him some bonus perks.

"I just got an upgraded room at the St. Regis because the woman saw me pull out a Yu-Gi-Oh card at the Olympic trials," Lyles said.

Lyles capped off the story with a sweet message to other fans like him.

"Never stop being a nerd!," he said.

Lyles earned a gold medal in the 100-meter dash and a bronze in the 200-meter dash during the 2024 Olympics. Yet, it was his outspoken passion for the show that got him an upgrade in a hotel as prestigious as St. Regis.

Aside from the Yu-Gi-Oh cards he kept on him during his races, Lyles also celebrated by doing the "Kamehameha" pose from the animated series "Dragonball Z". These little shows of his favorites make him popular with the younger generation.
