The University of Alabama faces significant challenges with the departure of legendary head coach Nick Saban. This offseason, the key question is whether Alabama can maintain its former status, and the task at hand is seeing if Kalen DeBoer is ready to fill Saban's shoes.

DeBoer boasts an impressive 104-12 record at the college level. He just led Washington to its best season in over 30 years. However, coaching Alabama presents a new challenge for him.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum believes the Crimson Tide will be on the verge of making the College Football Playoff this season.

"I think Alabama is right on the verge; they could get in," Finebaum said.

The Crimson Tide's schedule this year could work in their favor. Alabama is set to play five teams in the preseason AP Top 25, with only one of those teams being in the top 10.

That one game is against the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs, but it comes after a bye week and three games against unranked teams for Alabama to gain familiarity. So, it's possible due to its schedule, the Crimson Tide might seamlessly return to the College Football Playoff.
