Olympic Gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik Makes Major Announcement on Next Project

Stephen Nedoroscik conquered the pommel horse at the Paris Olympics, and now his next challenge will be on the dance floor.

The 25-year-old gymnast became one of the biggest viral stars of the Summer Games as he waited quietly for his chance to compete during the team competition. Nedoroscik earned a score of 14.866 on the pommel horse, his only event, helping Team USA win a bronze medal. It was the first medal for the team in 16 years.

Nedoroscik had hinted at a big post-Olympics gig and fans speculated that he could join the cast of the ABC competition "Dancing With The Stars." Access Hollywood's Emily Orozco pressed Nedoroscik on the rumors, asking if he would consider joining the show.

Nedoroscik avoided a yes-or-no answer and said dancing made him feel uncomfortable but stressed that it was "definitely not out of the question.”

The suspense didn't last too long. On August 22, Nedoroscik confirmed in an appearance on "Good Morning America" that he would be joining the "Dancing With The Stars" cast for its 33rd season.

Nedoroscik told host Robin Roberts that he could even bring some of the moves made famous on his pommel horse routine.

"I'm hoping to bring some of them," Nedoroscik said. "I want to bring some flares, I want to bring some of that gymnastics. Maybe a backflip or handstand. I want to have fun with it."

A number of other U.S. Olympians have competed on "Dancing With The Stars," including women gymnasts Simone Biles, Suni Lee and Shawn Johnson. Nedoroscik will be the first male gymnast to compete for the mirrorball trophy.
