The countdown to the Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball season is officially underway.

UW announced its full non-conference schedule on Thursday morning. The 11-game slate features three teams coming off NCAA Tournament appearances.

Before Wisconsin officially tips off, the Badgers host Division III UW-River Falls in an exhibition matchup on October 30th. Head coach Greg Gard's squad formally begins its season on November 4th against Holy Cross.

What follows next is a pair of mid-major matchups in Madison. With Tyler Wahl, the program leader in games played, exhausting his eligibility, Wisconsin basketball's revamped frontcourt has its first test against big man Brandon Walker and the Montana State Bobcats on November 7th.

On November 10th, the Badgers host Appalachian State. The Mountaineers, led by head coach Dustin Kerns, set a program record with 27 wins last season. Kerns, however, had to reshape his roster this offseason, bringing ten new faces to Boone, North Carolina.

All that will pale in comparison to the challenge the new-look Badgers face against the refreshed roster of the Arizona Wildcats. Wisconsin welcomes head coach Tommy Lloyd's squad to the Kohl Center a year after UA took down UW 98-73 in the McKale Center.

The schedule includes several previously announced matchups, including the Greenbrier Tip-Off multi-team event. Wisconsin will travel to play at in-state foe Marquette on December 7th and the Butler Bulldogs in Indianapolis as part of the Indy Classic on December 14th.

The full non-conference schedule is below:

    Oct. 30 - UW-RIVER FALLS (exhibition)

    Nov. 4 - HOLY CROSS

    Nov. 7 - MONTANA STATE

    Nov. 10 - APPALACHIAN STATE

    Nov. 15 - ARIZONA

    Nov. 18 - UT-RIO GRANDE VALLEY

    Nov. 22 - vs. UCF (Greenbrier Tip-Off)

    Nov. 30 - CHICAGO STATE

    Dec. 7 - at Marquette

Dec. 14 - vs. Butler (Indy Classic)

    Dec. 22 - DETROIT MERCY

The Big Ten has yet to announce its conference schedule, but it has revealed Wisconsin's opponents for the upcoming season. The Badgers will play Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota home and away. UW will host Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, and Washington. Wisconsin will face Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, UCLA, and USC on the road.
