Cam Newton Calls Out NFL Punter After Viral Video Incident

    By Chris Licata,

Free agent NFL punter Drue Chrisman made a name for himself online in August after a viral video incident following his tryout with the Washington Commanders.

In an X post that has been viewed 4.9 million times since August 18, the 27-year-old called out the team's front office by screenshotting a text instructing him to take down his "My day in Washington" video .

Upon seeing the video, Cam Newton called more attention to Chrisman by, unlike the Commanders, offering him a job to work for his production company, Iconic Saga .

"Drue, Drue, listen to me," the former NFL MVP said on his Iconic-produced show "4th & 1 with Cam Newton." "I want you to come work with us at Iconic Saga. That m*****f***** just told his story in a minute and 30 seconds, probably a minute. Off his phone. I love creativity like that."

Looking directly into the camera Newton continued, "You ain't gotta punt no more. You ain't gotta do none of that s***. I mean this from the bottom of my heart: Find some type of way to get to Atlanta. I'll get you to Atlanta. Come try out for Iconic Saga."

In response to seeing Newton comments on social media, Chrisman replied on X: "Somebody actually wants to hire me 🥺"

Newton, 35, founded the company in 2012 during his second season in the NFL.

Among his other post-playing business ventures, Newton is also on a "quest to become the top YouTuber in sports," according to an April 2024 feature by Boardroom .
