Manu Ginobili Displays Respect for Spurs Legend

San Antonio Spurs is a classy franchise. Before Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki retired, the Spurs produced a tear-inducing tribute video for their long-time rival. Moreover, Gregg Popovich's relationships with the players outside the basketball court are well-documented. Manu Ginobili carried an honorable reputation following Bill Land's retirement announcement.

“I feel truly blessed to have had a dream job with the best production crew in the league and the best analyst in the NBA, Sean Elliott. As I move into the fourth quarter of my life, I want to thank everyone, especially Spurs fans, for their incredible support over the years and particularly this past year as I have battled cancer," Land said as he announced his retirement.

While battling retirement is one thing, wrestling cancer puts the decision in perspective. Land excelled as the Spurs play-by-play for 21 years.

Ginobili sent the legendary play-by-play off to retirement with a genuine tweet : "Congratulations Bill Land on an incredible broadcast career. We wish you the best in your next chapter!"

Land, known for his "Oh, Mama!" catchphrase, created a fun atmosphere for Spurs fans. Land is the unofficial voice of the Spurs, having overseen most of the team's five NBA championships. It has yet to be announced who will replace the 74-year-old announcer.

The powers that be have quite the job in replacing such a figure.

Lands will officially receive a tribute at the Spurs' home opener on Oct. 26 against the Houston Rockets to honor the broadcast legend.
