Kobe Prentice Names Freshman WR Who Is Going 'Crazy' During Fall Camp

Alabama 's wide receiver room has been one of the most talked about groups on the team and for good reason JaMarcus Shephard has to replace the top three pass catchers from the 2023 squad.

Much talk has been made about transfer Germie Bernard and five-star freshman Ryan Williams. One player who should be within the starting group is break-out candidate Kobe Prentice.

Following an 18-catch, 314-yard season in 2023, which was highlighted by a touchdown grab against Kentucky, Prentice's snaps will increase and with it more targets.

However, having depth in that room is essential and Prentice highlighted an off-the-radar freshman who has been making plays in camp.

"Rico (Scott) has been able to adapt very well," Prentice said. "When he came in, of course he already had talent you know that's how he got here, but he's been able to adapt and make great strides."

One of Scott's biggest strides came in the second scrimmage of fall camp.

"I think Rico caught two or three touchdowns in the last scrimmage," Prentice said. "Rico been going crazy."

Scott is a former four-star recruit out of Bishop McDevitt high school in Harrisburg, Pa., who averaged 17.9 yards per reception during his junior season of high school.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn even went so far as to compare Scott to former Alabama wide out John Metchie.

With the need for playmakers to step up and carve out roles for themselves, Scott will continue to receive reps and targets. It will be a battle early in the season to determine the wide receiver rotation, but their won't be much time to experiment as the Crimson Tide head to Wisconsin in week three and welcome Georgia during the final weekend of September.
