Tom Brady's Unvarnished Opinion Of Bill Belichick After Failed Job Hunt

Behind every great NFL superstar quarterback is an elite coach. While there might be exceptions to this generally accepted rule, there's no denying that Tom Brady's relationship with Bill Belichick is a glaring testament to this notion.

Together, Brady and Belichick won six Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots. While most of the credit has to go to Brady, who is considered by many as the greatest QB to ever do it, the fact of the matter is that Belichick played an undeniably crucial role in all six championships.

This is exactly why Brady believes that NFL teams have missed out on a great opportunity when they decided not to hire Belichick during the offseason. The 72-year-old, who recently parted ways with the Patriots after 24 seasons, is now going to be jobless entering the new campaign.

In a recent interview with Stephen A. Smith, Brady issued a sweeping declaration about Belichick's GOAT status.

"I think without a doubt he's the greatest coach to ever coach in the history of the NFL," Brady said, via Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports. "And sitting in a meeting room with him for 20 years, there is no coach that I felt more prepared by than coach Bill Belichick."

In the same breath, however, Brady also revealed why he believes NFL teams have been hesitant to bring such a uniquely strong-willed personality into their organization.

"If I would look at any of these organizations who have any head coaching vacancies, Bill Belichick to me is a no-brainer," said Brady. "Now, he's going to come and he's going to be authoritative and he's going to have his own way of doing things and you gotta be OK with that. But when I'm looking at a coach to prepare a team, he's an incredible coach."

What is clear is that at this point, teams across the league are not prepared for Belichick having his own way, as Brady put it. This is despite his stature as an all-time legendary NFL coach.

Whether or not this ends up as a temporary hiatus for one of the greatest coaches in league history or a permanent retirement, there's no denying that Bill Belichick has left a lasting legacy on the sport.
