Who Closed the Window in Golden State?

Stephen Curry's Olympic performance is possibly the four-time NBA champion's swan song in high-stakes basketball. While such a reality sounds harsh, considering Curry is a decorated champion and is coming off winning clutch player of the year despite not making the 2024 playoffs, the Warriors need another star around their aging cornerstone franchise player.

According to Bleacher Report, the Warriors have a slim chance of competing for a championship in the next three years. In their recent exercise ranking franchises' three-year window to win an NBA championship, Bleacher Report listed Golden State as 17th.

Last season, the Warriors missed the playoffs as a 46-win team. Draymond Green couldn't stay out of trouble, and Golden State's roster expected a past-his-prime Klay Thompson to contribute significantly.

What did the Warriors do to fix such dilemmas? Well, they added Kyle Anderson, De'Anthony Melton, and Buddy Hield.

Ultimately, except for Hield, the Warriors signed role players of playoff substance. Hield is a great shooter, but in his four playoff games, all played with the Philadelphia 76ers last season, he averaged five points, albeit on an impressive 46 percent from 3-point range. Still, efficiency aside, Hield hasn't indicated he can make a difference on a playoff team.

Picking nits with the role players won't solve the main issue. Golden State's failure to trade for Utah Jazz's Lauri Markkanen is a possible omen for another season in which the unanimous MVP plays his heart out, only for his supporting cast to dwindle in the spotlight.

While Curry's game could age well in three years, what is possibly surrounding the Team USA hero? Jonathan Kuminga won't get it done.

Golden State must move cautiously, as Curry could jump out the window for another safe pot to win a championship in his twilight years.
