Jets, Robert Saleh Impressed With Takk McKinley

The New York Jets may be worried about when Haason Reddick will show up at the team facility. They might even be worried about how their young core of edge rushers develop behind the Pro Bowl pass rusher.

One thing they aren't worried about is the depth of the position, though.

After becoming a minicamp invite back in the Spring, former first-round pick Takk McKinley has been a wrecking ball for the Jets defensive line in training camp and has earned the right to be a borderline lock to make the 53-man roster.

Head coach Robert Saleh even went out of his way Thursday to speak glowingly about the job McKinley has done to prove he's still worthy of being in the NFL.

"I'm going to talk about Takk (Takkarist McKinley) too because Takk's really taking advantage of this opportunity too," Saleh explained. "He looks really, really good, so between the three of them, they've all seized the moment."

Saleh was talking specifically about how McKinley, Will McDonald, and Michael Clemons have stepped up with Reddick's training camp holdout.

While playing time may be scarce when Reddick eventually returns, the Jets should be thrilled with the fact that McKinley appears on the path to not only saving his NFL career, but helping the team out in a big way in 2024.
