ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit was recently featured on the Pat McAfee Show, where he discussed the current state of Florida State football.

Herbstreit had some comments on Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell, as well as transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei.

The "College GameDay" member shared high praise for Norvell, mentioning that he can coach an offense "as well as anybody."

Despite losing some key offensive players, such as quarterback Jordan Travis, wide receivers Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman and running back Trey Benson, to the 2024 NFL draft, Norvell has been optimistic about the Seminoles' weapons.

While Herbstreit doesn't seem too convinced in Uiagalelei, a quarterback who's had stints with the Clemson Tigers and Oregon State Beavers, he believes in Norvell's offensive system.

"I think he's incredibly fired up," Herbstreit said. "Not just about what DJ can do within this offense, but I think the skill that they have around them. They lost great players... But, the way he recruits. You go back to his days at Memphis. The way he's able to put skill in. He knows how to coach an offense as well as anybody."

Norvell arrived in Tallahassee in 2020, just after the Seminoles had a 6-7 season under Willie Taggart and Odell Haggins.

He started his time with FSU on a rough patch, ending the shortened 2020 season with a 3-6 record, but Norvell and the Noles have been climbing the ladder every season since then.

They had a 5-7 record in 2021 and quickly jumped a few spots in terms of team development when FSU finished the 2022 season with a 10-3 record.

The Seminoles have now arrived. They're back in the discussion around the College Football Playoff, despite missing a bid to the postseason with a 13-0 regular season finish last year, but that fiasco is old news.

Herbstreit has real confidence in what Norvell can accomplish, given his track record in producing elite-level talent on the offensive end, especially with weapons from the transfer portal.

Along with Uiagalelei, who will be the Seminoles' starting quarterback, Florida State brought in some weapons on offense that they expect to make an immediate impact.

This includes former LSU Tigers wide receiver Jalen Brown, Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Malik Benson, and Alabama running back Roydell Williams.

The Seminoles will have an opportunity to showcase their talent in Week 0 when they take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Aug. 24 at Noon ET in Dublin, Ireland.
