The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to make it to the playoffs and past the Wild Card this past season, and it came partially as a result of some great play from their quarterback.

In a recent article by Pro Football Network , they put together their rankings of the best quarterbacks in the NFL ahead of the start of the season. Baker Mayfield had a great year, but they have him all the way down at No. 19 on their list.

"Baker Mayfield took a huge step forward in 2023 under the watch of Dave Canales. But Canales was hired as head coach of the Carolina Panthers, leaving Mayfield to prove that he could succeed without his former offensive coordinator," PFN writes. "While Mayfield could certainly take a step back, he’ll still have plenty of talent to work with in Tampa Bay to prove last season wasn’t an anomaly."

Mayfield was drafted first overall back in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, and up until last season, he had not lived up to that title. But, he may be turning it around and proving the haters wrong.

He finished his 2023 campaign with 4,044 passing yards, 29 total touchdowns, and he did all of this on a solid 64 percent completion percentage. With all of that being said, PFN still has him ranked below Caleb Williams, who is a great prospect, but he hasn't played a single snap in the regular season.

Mayfield will be looking to continue to prove the haters wrong and the lead the Buccaneers to yet another playoff run.
