The San Francisco 49ers are facing contract negotiations with two key players: wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and tackle Trent Williams. As the regular season approaches, fans are eager for updates on their status, especially with the team's final preseason game coming up soon.

NFL insider Albert Breer has suggested that the 49ers could finalize contracts for both players by Labor Day weekend. This timeline would be just a week before the season opener against the New York Jets at Levi's Stadium.

"I'd say Labor Day weekend is a fair target," Breer wrote in his mailbag feature . "I do think both of them get taken care of."

General manager John Lynch has acknowledged the ongoing discussions, emphasizing the importance of both players to the team's success. Aiyuk is looking to secure a lucrative deal, aiming to be among the highest-paid receivers in the league. Meanwhile, Williams, who has not reported to training camp, is seeking a restructured contract that likely includes guaranteed money.

" Good communication with both the players and their representatives, but just haven't made any breakthroughs," general manager John Lynch said on Thursday morning.

Lynch expressed the team's urgency to resolve these situations, indicating that they are committed to bringing Aiyuk and Williams back into the fold. Their presence is crucial for the 49ers as they aim for a strong season following a near Super Bowl victory last year.

"I know fans are eagerly awaiting, and the season's right around the corner," Lynch continued. "I can tell everybody this: we feel the urgency to get all our players back. We're very excited about our team, and those are two guys that have been a big part of us, a huge part of our success, so we'd like to have them both back in the fold."
