The moment that caught the attention of the football world occurred when Chatman chased down Texans running back J.J. Taylor nearly 45 yards down the field, showcasing his relentless motor. Although Taylor was ultimately ruled out of bounds earlier in the run, Chatman’s effort was widely celebrated on the sidelines and praised by coaches.

Veteran nose tackle Dexter Lawrence , a key mentor to Chatman during this period, couldn’t resist sharing a light-hearted moment with the rookie after the play.

"I told him I’m still faster than him," Lawrence joked , referencing Chatman’s clocked speed of 16.28 MPH during the play.

Lawrence’s humor reflects the camaraderie and support that Chatman has received from his teammates as he works to secure a spot on the Giants’ 53-man roster.

Throughout training camp, Chatman has leaned on Lawrence for guidance, and the results have been evident. Chatman has grown into a more polished player, with his natural hustle and determination shining through. His relentless effort and ability to learn quickly are qualities that could very well land him on the final roster as the Giants prepare for the 2024 season.

As the preseason comes to a close, all eyes will be on whether Chatman can continue to build on his momentum and secure a place on the team. The bond between Lawrence and Chatman, coupled with the rookie’s work ethic, has created a compelling storyline as the Giants finalize their roster decisions.
