'Awesome!' Cowboys' Steele '100% Healthy!'; How's Guyton Injury Issue?

    By Adam Schultz,

The 2023 season was a trying one for Dallas Cowboys right tackle Terence Steele, as he simply wasn't playing to the level we had become accustomed to.

But there was a reason for that - he was coming back from an ACL injury suffered in Week 14 of the 2022 season against the Houston Texans. As "good guy" Michael Gallup can attest to, it takes a while to fully get over an injury like that and you could make the case that Gallup simply wasn't the same after his injury.

For Steele, who was a consistent participator all throughout training camp in Oxnard, gave his thoughts as camp wrapped up after a grueling four weeks.

“I feel awesome,” Steele said. “I'm 100% healthy, moving great, knee doesn't even bother me at all, feels normal. So I'm just happy to be healthy and just continue to stay that way.”

That is obviously a key to Dallas' offensive success, as is the health of rookie left tackle Tyler Guyton, as the rookie apparently only has some "knee soreness'' that shouldn't be a factor for Week 1 at Cleveland.

Good health for Steele? That is in stark contrast to 12 months ago for Steele who was struggling to get his feet underneath him after his injury.

After all, he was still recovering from his surgery, and the right tackle revealed how this year's camp differed from last year's.

"I [was] six months removed from surgery," Steele added. "I mean it's just different just because I have more time (under) my belt, the healing process is there, so yeah it's completely different."

Now that Steele is fully healthy, there is hope that the right tackle will again be the dependable anchor on the right side of the offensive line for Dak Prescott . ... and a quality bookend with Guyton.

It takes players at least 12 months to start to feel like themselves again, and for Steele, he's ready to attack the new season confident in the knowledge that he's fully healed from his knee injury.

And that's something to feel awesome about.
