'FIGHT!' Micah Parsons: 'You Need That!'

    By Adam Schultz,

Training camp is officially over for the Dallas Cowboys, and attention turns to the Los Angeles Chargers in their last preseason game before the Cleveland Browns come into view for Week 1.

And to say that Dallas ended training camp with a bang was an understatement. With players being rather chirpy and physical, coupled with some push-and-shove (hello, Mr. Jake Ferguson and Mr. Donovan Wilson), the team's last practice wasn't for the faint-hearted.

For Micah Parsons , with the roster cuts and the regular season just around the corner, that's exactly what was needed.

“You need that intensity, that ramp up,” Parsons said. “We're two weeks away [from Week 1], the adrenaline should be higher, everything should be higher. Next week, going to be a completely different team, so this is a lot of guys' last showing and you need that, you want to see that drive ...

"I think that's why it was so important for me to like really amp these guys up because a lot of guys don't understand the opportunity and the gratitude of just being out here and not knowing this isn't guaranteed. ... So we need those type of days.”

With 90 players fighting for 53 final roster spots (plus practice squad) for a lot of players, it will eventually be the end of the line, and they had to leave everything out on the field in a last-ditch attempt to impress the coaching staff.

But as for what was the fire starter for practice to get as heated as a Texas summer? Parsons isn't too sure.

"I don't know something just kind of like sparked," Parsons said. "I was just like, we got to really take this to another level, it don't matter who's out here. I think it started from that two-minute [drill] and just kind of really went on from there.”

And it went, alright. Wilson threw a punch at Ferguson after the tight end threw a stiff arm at the defender; Trevon Diggs and Jalen Brooks had some back and forth as camp ended on a high for the Cowboys.

Now, with one preseason game to go, it's some player's last chance to stake their claim for a roster spot.

So expect the Cowboys, much like the Chargers, to come out breathing fire on Saturday at AT&T Stadium.
