Eagles Preseason Preview: Birds Close Out August Slate vs. Vikings

    By Nick Faria,

    2024-08-23

The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0 in this preseason slate with a chance to go undefeated in a Saturday afternoon contest against the Minnesota Vikings.

Will that 3-0 mark count for anything once the team takes the field in Brazil for Week 1? Of course not. Still, it's a nice understanding to have overall for the organization under so much pressure for the new season.

As the Vikings come into town, there is plenty to watch out for as the Eagles get closer to their Week 1 slate.

Here are some of the biggest points going into the final game of the preseason:

How Will Kenny Pickett Fair as QB2?

Pickett has been pretty bad in both preseason contests and training camp sessions. Despite that, the Eagles have remained steadfast in their belief that he will be the team's immediate backup going into the new year.

A strong performance against Minnesota should be able to quell some of those concerns. Anything less will only enhance the danger of Jalen Hurts going down.

Where Will Cooper DeJean Line Up?

DeJean will get playing time on Saturday simply due to the fact he hasn't played much of camp due to a hamstring injury. The big question will be where the Eagles actually line him up.

Will he be in the slot? Safety? Outside corner?

DeJean's versatility is strong and certainly something the Eagles will be looking to utilize.

Who Is Most Likely to Save Their Jobs?

Players like Ainias Smith, James Bradberry, and even Nolan Smith are fighting for playing time to show they belong on the team for the 2024 season. While some roles are predetermined, there's a strong likelihood someone's performance on Saturday could save their job.
