The Tampa Bay Buccaneers slotted in their starters for the only time this the preseason against the Miami Dolphins Friday evening. Baker Mayfield, Rachaad White and others got their first run in Liam Coen's system.

The debut could not have had a better start. On the opening drive of the game, the Bucs proved just as lethal on the ground as they were through the air.

All facets of the offense seemed in tune, starting with the run where White took four carries for 16 yards. He walked into the end zone on the final of those touches, capping a strong statement from the Tampa Bay first-teamers.

But Mayfield shined even brighter on a sharp three-of-three for 54 yards, including a 28-yard strike to rookie Jalen McMillan. The rookie has impressed in limited preseason action and seems poised to contribute early on.

However, the drive indicated a glaring difference in the run from this group. The Bucs' second- and third-teamers had hinted at such progress, but demonstrating this progress with White shows real promise for the forthcoming season.

Mayfield came out after the first drive with Kyle Trask taking his place under center.

The Bucs will be counting on this production to translate that into the regular season opener against Washington in two weeks. But for now, there is a lot to like about the new-look offense with Mayfield and Coen at the helm.
