The University of Colorado has indefinitely banned Denver Post columnist Sean Keeler from asking questions of head football coach Deion Sanders and other members of the Buffaloes football program.

The Buffaloes Athletic Department released a statement saying, “After a series of sustained, personal attacks on the football program and specifically Coach Prime, the CU Athletic Department in conjunction with the football program, have decided not to take questions from Denver Post columnist Sean Keeler at football-related events.”

However, Keeler remains credentialed to attend events and other Denver Post reporters are still allowed to ask questions.

According to the statement provided to the Post , Colorado's issue stems from Keeler's references to Sanders as “Deposition Deion,” the “Bruce Lee of B.S.,” and a “false prophet,” among other critiques.

This decision follows a recent press conference where Sanders accused Keeler of always being “on the attack,” asking, “What happened to get you like this?” Keeler attempted to shift the conversation to football, but after not being able to find common ground, Sanders moved on to other questions.

Following the exchange, Keeler described Sanders as “a confident man who suddenly looked and acted and sounded… afraid.” Colorado officials also noted that Sanders' contract includes language stating he is only required to speak with “mutually agreed upon media.”

This isn’t the first time Sanders has banned reporters. In 2021, he barred a Clarion Ledger reporter from covering Jackson State after a story surfaced about an incoming recruit’s legal issues.

Primetime and the Buffaloes open their season on August 29 against the North Dakota State Bison at Folsom Field.
