Marina Mabrey's Sister Gives Blunt Reaction To Chennedy Carter's Flagrant Foul

On Friday evening, Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky traveled east to take on the WNBA's second-placed Connecticut Sun. This game marks the first time the Sky have faced guard Marina Mabrey, whom they traded away prior to the Olympic break.

Mabrey was traded to the Sun on July 19 after she made a trade request. In return, Chicago received Rachel Banham, Moriah Jefferson and two future draft assets.

During the first quarter of the game, Sky guard Chennedy Carter received a flagrant foul for hitting Mabrey in the face as she was going up for a shot.

Mabrey's sister, Dara Mabrey, thought this act from Carter was amusing, to say the least. She reacted to the foul with four laughing emojis.

Dara played college ball for two seasons with the Virginia Tech Hokies from 2018-2020 before transferring to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, where she spent her final three seasons from 2020-2023. In her final college season, Dara tore her ACL which ended her playing career.

Meanwhile, in three games for the Sun, Marina has been a key piece for a team with WNBA championship aspirations. She is averaging 11.0 points, 3.67 rebounds and 3.33 assists per game.

Before being traded away, Mabrey was the second-highest scorer on the Sky, right behind Carter. Although no beef has been reported between the two players, the hit to the face on Friday will definitely cause some speculation.

Since trading Mabrey, the Sky have lost some momentum in their push for a playoff spot. They have fallen to 11-16 on the season after losing two of their three games following the Olympic break. On the other hand, the Atlanta Dream have won three straight and are gaining on Chicago in the standings.
