DALLAS - Members of the Los Angeles Chargers, in DFW to play the Dallas Cowboys in Saturday's preseason finale, found themselves stuck in an elevator at their team hotel, requiring aide from Dallas Fire-Rescue.

About 15 people in the Chargers' traveling party had to crawl through a ceiling panel to escape being stranded.

In a post on social media , the Chargers announced that at about 7:30 p.m. CT, Dallas Fire-Rescue assisted the people on the elevator "one-by-one" through a ceiling panel in the inoperable elevator - stuck in a "blind shaft,'' per DFR - to an adjacent elevator.

"The Los Angeles Chargers thank Dallas Fire-Rescue for their quick response, professionalism and substantial efforts ensuring everyone's safety," the team said.

WFAA.com reported that the "blind shaft" setup occurred between the third and 15th floors of The Westin hotel in downtown Dallas.

Once all were safe, Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh reportedly invited all the Dallas Fire-Rescue staff to the team meal room for dinner.

The Cowboys play host to the Chargers at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Dallas opens its regular season at Cleveland on Sept. 8, with the Chargers also opening that day against the visiting Raiders.
