Don't let last season's forgettable run fool, the Memphis Grizzlies is still classified as a title contender. With Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane leading the way, they will always be able to go for it and potentially secure the league's biggest prize.

The Grizzlies have obtained a favorable consideration amongst non-title teams to contend for a championship.

Grizzlies favored to win first-ever title

Out of the 10 franchises yet to win an NBA title, the Grizzlies landed among those with the best shot to break through and win one of their own. In his recent article for Bleacher Report, Zach Buckley ranked Memphis at No. 3 in the best potential to deliver its first-ever title.

Buckley argued that the Grizzlies’ chances largely depend on whether Ja Morant will finally become healthy and available to perform as the team's leader. As such, the offensive step-up made by both JJJ and Bane, with Ja inactive most of 2023-24, also offers a promising mark.

“If this becomes a certified Big Three, then Bluff City could be a major problem. Marcus Smart may have been a curious choice for Memphis' attempted acceleration, but he's still an experienced player, dogged defender and capable shot-creator. He'll help this team more often than not. And good luck to the Grizzlies' opponents if second-year forward GG Jackson II and rookie center Zach Edey are ready to roll,” he wrote.

Hoping for a title in this timeline

The Grizzlies have plenty of reasons to be positive about their capabilities to compete at the highest level, not just for the forthcoming season, but also for the next few years to come. They still have that talented core trio of Morant, Jackson Jr. and Bane locked in long-term, which is guided by Marcus Smart’s savvy presence and leadership. Not to mention, the duo of GG Jackson and Zach Edey offers another youthful and promising angle that increases the potential of what they can truly achieve. Other role players such as Luke Kennard, Brandon Clarke, Vince Williams Jr., and Santi Aldama are also ready to produce whatever they can to help the team win. And if ever they want to be even more competitive, they still have a plethora of draft assets that can be swung for a blockbuster trade.

The Grizzlies haven't won an NBA championship since their formation in 1995. With some luck, health, and perseverance, we can only hope this era will give Grind City a well-deserved title parade one day.
