    The Upside: What's Keon's 'Best-Case' Scenario?

    By Adam Schultz,

The Buffalo Bills drafted Keon Coleman in the hopes that the rookie would help alleviate the loss of Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis.

With the Bills' receiver room now filled with veteran role players and no bonafide No. 1 weapon, Buffalo hopes Coleman develops into that.

In a receiver-by-committee approach, Josh Allen will have his work cut out, getting all the new players on offense up to speed.

But as for Coleman, what's the best-case scenario for him in his rookie season? NFL.com's Dan Parr thinks that Keon develops into the No. 1 weapon Buffalo wanted him to be.

"Josh Allen needs a go-to guy, and Coleman proves up to the challenge," Parr writes . "He thrives on jump balls, especially in the red zone, and plays a large role in replacing the production that departed with Stefon Diggs."

For the Bills, Coleman could hit the ground running in year one and become one of Allen's go-to weapons.

Of course, others in Curtis Samuel, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mack Hollins, and Khalil Shakir will be fighting for receptions, but Coleman, in theory, should eventually overtake all of them.

But if that were to happen in year one, Buffalo would be smiling from ear to ear as it would have replaced Diggs and Davis.

In all likelihood, Coleman won't be "the" guy for Allen in Brady's offense to start with, but the hope is that once he gets a few games under his belt, then Coleman could emerge as a genuine weapon for the Bills.

Buffalo is looking to get over the playoff hump in 2024, and having Coleman develop into a No. 1 receiver might just be the thing that takes them over the edge.
