Florida State Fans Sent a Clear Message to Kirk Herbstreit on 'College GameDay'

Kirk Herbstreit and the entire ESPN "College GameDay" Crew may not be the most popular folks at Florida State after last year's coverage, but yet, the crew is live from Dublin to cover the Seminoles' 2024 opener.

Remembering back to last year, Florida State finished the season undefeated, won their conference title to advance to 13-0 and were still left out of the College Football Playoff thanks to an injured quarterback and an undesirable resume, which did feature two neutral-field top-15 wins and one without their starting QB.

Alas, Florida State was passed over for a one-loss SEC champ in Alabama and a one-loss Big 12 champ in Texas — which Herbstreit fully supported. In fact, he was pretty clear about his belief last season that FSU did not belong in the playoff.

So, when thousands of Florida State fans made the trip to Ireland and swelled around the "GameDay" on Saturday ahead of the Georgia Tech game, they couldn't wait to let Herbstreit hear their thoughts on him.

As Rece Davis introduced Herbstreit for his 29th season on "College GameDay," Florida State fans serenaded the longtime ESPN commenter with a song of boos.

He went on to note how neat the expanded 12-team playoff will be.

"The build of that and anticipation of that has so many people excited, because instead of just four or five, six, seven teams, this opens it up to 12, 13, 14, 15," he noted.

So, no longer will undefeated power conference champions miss the College Football Playoff, which is good news for all parties involved in last year's CFP controversy.
