Pat McAfee Names Dangerous ACC Team to 'Look Out' For

ESPN analyst Pat McAfee started off week zero's addition of College GameDay with a bang after giving the world a dangerous ACC team to keep an eye out for during the 2024-25 season.

With the new 12-team College Football Playoff format, it opens the door for a lot more teams to truly compete for positioning and seeding. It allows teams to have a margin for error, which in the past you really didn't have.

Florida State and Georgia Tech kick off week zero in Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday, but neither the Yellow Jackets nor the defending ACC champion, the Florida State Seminoles, were the team Pat McAfee warned the public to look out for.

"For the ACC, it's the old faithful; Florida State, Clemson, and NC State are ranked in the top 25. [But] look out for Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech returns 20 starters, five offensive linemen all return, and if you get into Blacksburg in a big game, that's a tough place to play." McAfee said.

Virginia Tech is returning dual-threat quarterback Kyron Drones , who threw for 2,084 yards, 17 touchdowns, and just three interceptions last season for the Hokies. Drones bring a lot to the table on the ground, though. Rushing for 818 yards and five touchdowns.

Drone and the Hokies also return four of their top receivers from last season. Da'Quan Felton , Ali Jennings , Stephen Gosnell, and Jaylin Lane .

They season on the road against SEC opponent Vanderbilt and then following that up with two winnable games until they get to their first two tests against Rutgers and then Miami . Nontheless, if the Hokies can get off to a hot start entering ACC, watch out for Virginia Tech.
