Pat McAfee Names One College Football Team To 'Look Out' For

Pat McAfee and the "College GameDay" crew were back in action on Saturday, previewing the Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Dublin, Ireland.

Before the members of "GameDay" dropped their official predictions, McAfee took some time to comment on a sleeper team in the ACC.

He believes college football fans have to "look out" for the Virginia Tech Hokies. McAfee thinks their experience, returning 20 starters from the 2023-24 season, could put them in a position to succeed this season.

"Look out for Virginia Tech," McAfee said. "Virginia Tech returns 20 starters. Five offensive linemen all return... They're able to move the rock, and if you get into Blacksburg in a big game, that's a tough place to play."

The Hokies will be playing behind Kyron Drones, who heads into the 2024-25 season as an established starter.

Drones transferred to VT from the Baylor Bears just before the 2023-24 season. He finished his first year with the Hokies recording 17 touchdowns and 2,084 yards, with just three interceptions thrown.

He'll be playing behind five linemen who have experience in VT's offensive scheme, so the Hokies should be ready for a jump in the standings. They ended their 2023-24 campaign with a 7-6 record.

Virginia Tech has a favorable schedule, set to play just two preseason AP Top 25 teams, the Miami Hurricanes and Clemson Tigers.

The biggest test will be at home against the Tigers on Nov. 9, so as McAfee explained, look out for the Hokies, who seem to have the star aligning for them in the ACC during the 2024-25 season.
