College football is back, and one of the marquee matchups to begin the 2024 season is the Florida State Seminoles and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Florida State is coming off a 2023 season in which they went 13-1 (8-0 ACC), their only loss happening in the Orange Bowl against Georgia via a 63-3 rout. This happened due to many key players opting out after being left out of the College Football Playoff despite their efforts to have an undefeated record before playing the Orange Bowl.

As for Georgia Tech, they had a decent year. They went 7-6 (5-3 ACC), securing an appearance in the Gasparilla Bowl where they proceeded to take down UCF 30-17 at Raymond James Stadium.

Former NFL player and current college football analyst David Pollack gave plenty of insight regarding the matchup on social media, albeit teasing the possibility of Georgia Tech performing an upset over the ACC powerhouse.

"GT can beat FSU if.. If the D is improved from last year. Awful a year ago If they start fast!" Pollack said on Georgia Tech.

"FSU is replacing so many guys. Take advantage of them with some tempo on O, a few gimmicks, & your QB’s athletic ability. GT is gonna beat someone they shldnt this year. Is it FSU?"

Pollack is right to point out Georgia Tech's defensive issues last year. Even though they scored 31.1 points per game, they gave up 29.5 points on average, paving the way for concern on whether they can handle the Seminole offense.

He is also correct to look at the other side when it comes to Florida State. They have seen multiple players depart from last season, with Norvell retooling the roster throughout the offseason as he looks to get the team back into the CFP.

Norvell and the Seminoles are entering the 2024 season as favorites to win the ACC and secure a place in the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.

The last time these two teams faced was in 2022, where FSU cruised to a 41-16 victory. While a lot has changed since due to the mostly overhauled squads, it seems that Florida State would still have the edge as they enter the game as huge favorites over Georgia Tech.

The Seminoles and Yellow Jackets will begin their matchup today at noon, kicking off the season at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

Pollack is usually really close with his analysis of college football games. He lets the film speak for itself instead of listening to public opinion.

Proves what I always say that the people who vote on these kinds of things and only ever played kickball in the 3rd grade, they are very vulnerable to GETTING IT WRONG
