If everything goes according to plan, the Texans will have a fully healthy Laremy Tunsil protecting C.J. Stroud this season. Tunsil, who is one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL, appears to be fully recovered from an off season knee surgery. While the Texans have taken their time to get Laremy back on the field, all signs point towards him starting week one of the regular season.

DeMeco Ryans met with the media and discussed Laremy’s progress and what he’s looking for in today’s final preseason game.

On getting T Laremy Tunsil back and what it means to the offense

DeMeco: Laremy is one of the best tackles in the league. Having him back out here working with us, he’s done a phenomenal job. He’s been a top tackle throughout his entire career, so anytime you get a guy like that of his caliber back, it helps our entire team. Laremy has done a great job out here practicing. He’s looking like himself. He’s doing a really great job of leading that group – the o-line group, so I’m happy to see all those guys working together. That’s how you build that continuity. Guys have to be out there and be in the fire together and they’ve been doing it for the last couple weeks.

On what players on the bubble can do in the last preseason game to change some minds

DeMeco: For guys who are in this spot trying to crack the roster, they just have to focus on what they can control. You never know what happens. The roster gets set next week, but that’s never the final roster. That’s always my message to guys. Even if it’s a no on next week, that doesn’t mean it’s a definite no for the season. You just have to always remain ready and always understand how you’re controlling what you can control. That’s your attitude, your effort and your commitment. If you control those things then you’ll be just fine.
