Nick Saban's departure from the Alabama Crimson Tide football team after the 2023 season marked the end of an era.

He coached Alabama for 16 years since his debut with the program in 2007, arguably building the greatest dynasty ever seen in college football. He had the Crimson Tide dominate the SEC throughout his tenure, finishing with a 201-29 record (117-18 SEC) that includes multiple titles.

He racked up trophies going from the SEC Championship to the national championship. He took the SEC crown nine times with Alabama (11 overall), while winning the natty six times (seven total). In the College Football Playoff, he ended his career with a 9-5 record, a testament to his dominance in the college football world with Alabama.

Heading into the 2024 season, some expect Alabama to slip when it comes to winning games. While they will still be projected to appear in a bowl game at the very least, their chances of making the College Football Playoff may be more difficult than in prior years.

Despite this, Saban has a lot of confidence in his former team having a successful in the first year of his retirement from coaching. He expressed as much about Alabama's culture under Kalen DeBoer on the network's College Gameday show.

"That team still has the same culture as they had when I was the coach," Saban said. "They're going to be right up there challenging people."

Alabama finished with a 12-2 record (8-0 SEC) in Saban's final year, falling 27-20 to eventual champs Michigan in the Rose Bowl of the CFP Semifinals.

Even as the Crimson Tide may be losing valuable experience with Saban gone, he believes they will get the job done as they look to continue their reign in the SEC without him.

Alabama begins their season by hosting Western Kentucky on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. CT.
