Nick Saban Reveals Major Concern For College Football Powerhouse

The SEC is welcoming two of the most prestigious programs in college football: the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns.

The Longhorns are fresh off their best season since 2009. They made the College Football Playoff for the first time and won the Big 12 for the first time since the 2009 season. On the other hand, Oklahoma showed major improvement in Year 2 under head coach Brent Venables. Oklahoma, who went 6-7 in 2022, bounced back by going 10-3 last season.

On Saturday's "College GameDay," ESPN analyst and former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban said he feels Texas has built its team to be big and physical like an SEC team.

“Texas was built like an SEC team,” Saban said. “Sark (head coach Steve Sarkisian) built Texas like an SEC team. They have big people up front. They’re physical.”

As for Oklahoma, Saban believes the Sooners are one of the most athletic teams in the country but can't match Texas' size and physicality.

“Watching Oklahoma this offseason, they are one of the most athletic teams in the country, but they are not as big and as physical up front,” Saban said.

The preseason rankings seem to reflect this as well. Texas is ranked No. 4 and many people think the Longhorns can win the SEC and compete for a national championship. However, the Sooners are ranked No. 16, and some people think they are a fringe College Football Playoff team.

Now, only time will reveal which rival is more prepared for the SEC this season.
