Legendary former Alabama head coach Nick Saban appeared on ESPN's College Game Day on Saturday and discussed his expectations for his old team this fall. Saban said he watched the team's scrimmage last week and has crystallized his views.

"That team has the same culture they had when I was the coach," Saban said. "They play with toughness, they play with great effort. They execute well. They've got good discipline. Kalen [DeBoer] has done a really good job."

Saban coached the Crimson Tide for 16 years and built arguably the most powerful dynasty in college football history. He finished with a 201-29 record and six national championships.

Many expect Alabama to decline this fall under new head coach Kalen DeBoer, but Saban has great confidence in his former team, saying, "They're going to be right up there challenging people."

Saban also projected Alabama in his 12-team College Football Playoff prediction, picking them to finish 7th in the rankings. This would set them up for a first-round matchup against a 10th-ranked Notre Dame.

Alabama's season begins on Saturday, August 31, at 6 PM CST, with a home game against Western Kentucky.
