Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are searching for the program's first winning season since 2020 this year. Sanders led Colorado to a 4-8 record last season. The Buffaloes won just one game in 2022.

Colorado was the topic of discussion recently for a different reason. Sanders banned a local reporter after asking questions the Colorado head coach did not like.

On "College GameDay," a video showed former Florida State Seminoles quarterback EJ Manuel reviewing film with current starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. Manuel liked one of the throws and said that not even Sanders could stop the pass.

"I don't care if it's Deion Sanders," Manuel said. "DBs, they can't cover this stuff."

After the video was over, Rece Davis capitalized on the moment and made a joke aimed at Coach Prime. Davis jokingly warned Manuel about the dangers of referencing Sanders in such a fashion.

"Oh no," Davis said. "EJ said it didn't matter if it was Deion Sanders. He's not going to be able to ask any more questions. I'm just kidding."

Colorado returns stars from last year's team as it looks like to achieve bowl eligibility. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, two-way player Travis Hunter, receiver Jimmy Horn Jr., and defensive back Shilo Sanders are some who will return in 2024.

The Buffaloes' 2024 class was led by former five-star offensive tackle Jordan Seaton , former four-star athlete Kam Mikell , and former four-star WR Dre'lon Miller .

Colorado opens the 2024 season against the North Dakota State Bison on Aug. 29. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
