Georgia Tech Trolls Florida State After Huge Week 0 Upset

Georgia Tech is enjoying the spoils of victory after taking down No. 10 Florida State 24-21 in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday.

According to FanDuel, the Yellow Jackets were 11.5-point underdogs headed into the Week 0 matchup. The Seminoles had not lost a regular-season game since Oct. 15 of 2022 and were coming off an ACC Championship. Georgia Tech finished 7-6 in 2023.

Brent Key's Yellow Jackets looked like the more physical team on Saturday despite a clear gap in over talent. Tech rushed for 190 yards (5.3-yard average) and three touchdowns, while keeping FSU's offense to just 98 rushing yards on 31 carries (3.2-yard average). Neither team eclipsed the 200-yards passing mark.

But Tech didn't need to throw much with quarterback Haynes King at the helm. This game was won in the trenches, and King played his part with 15 carries for 54 yards to go along with 146 yards passing.

Following the game, Georgia Tech's official X (formerly Twitter) account poked fun at the Seminoles with an edit of King dropping back for a pass. The twist, however, is the added note at the bottom of the photo. The joke stems from the EA College Football 25 video game when an opponent quits a matchup.

"The connection to your peer has been lost," the note says.

The Yellow Jackets will return home to take on Georgia State on Aug. 31, while FSU will prepare for Boston College on Sept. 2.

The ACC Championship and College Football Playoff race just got a lot more interesting. And it's only Week 0.
