The Los Angeles Chargers experienced an unexpected situation just before their preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. On Friday evening, several players and staff members found themselves stuck in an elevator at their hotel.

The Chargers shared via X the that several players and members of the team's traveling party were trapped in an elevator around 7:30 p.m.

Emergency services from Dallas Fire-Rescue quickly responded to the scene. They assisted in safely extracting everyone from the elevator through the ceiling panel and into an adjacent elevator.

According to WFAA, 15 people were stranded in the elevator of The Westin hotel in downtown Dallas. Officials told the outlet that the elevator became stuck in a "blind shaft" somewhere between the third and fifteenth floors.

Several of the players and other members of the traveling party crawled through a ceiling panel to escape the stuck hotel elevator Friday night.

The Chargers expressed their appreciation for the swift and professional response from the fire department, ensuring that all individuals were unharmed before the game.

It is not immediately known which Chargers players were trapped, but according to ESPN's Kris Rhim that Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh invited all the Dallas Fire-Rescue staff to the team meal room to eat afterward as a token of appreciation for the help they were.

As the team gears up to face the Cowboys on Saturday, this unusual incident adds an unexpected twist to the NFL preseason, which runs from August 8 to August 25.
