Caitlin Clark has a special place in her heart for former WNBA star Maya Moore.

The Indiana Fever rookie will be on hand Saturday when the Minnesota Lynx retire the jersey of the former MVP and six-time WNBA All-Star. Moore led the Lynx to four WNBA championships and has already been inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.

Now, Moore will receive the top honor from her franchise before Minnesota's game against Clark and the Fever. Clark already showed some love to the WNBA legend, wearing a t-shirt made for Moore's retirement during the shoot-around before Saturday's game.

The game also brought new attention to Clark's previous praise for Moore, with the X account Clark Report re-sharing a story from the Fever rookie.

Speaking to reporters in May, Clark explained that when she was 12, her father drove her from their home in Des Moines to Minnesota to watch Moore and the Lynx. After the game, Clark had the chance to meet Moore and gave her a hug. Clark said it was a brief interaction, but one she would remember forever.

"Ten seconds can go a long way in somebody’s life," Clark said, via USA Today . "That’s a good lesson whether you play sports or don’t play sports, how you treat somebody matters."

Clark said her love of basketball "was because of her (Moore) and how good the Lynx were."

"I wanted to be just like her," Clark said.
