The Miami Marlins played the second of three games in their home weekend series with the Chicago Cubs on Saturday late afternoon and lost 14-2. It was a lopsided game and not a good day for Miami.

Valente Bellozo pitched for the Marlins and he didn't last long, only going four and two-thirds innings giving up six runs (one of them unearned) on seven hits and five walks, and he struck out just one batter.

The Chicago offense put up 17 hits in total. The first three runs were scored via the long ball, as Seiya Suzuki hit both a solo shot and a two-run homer to give them a 3-0. Afterward, they scored so much to the point when the Marlins used a position player to pitch the top of the ninth inning. That was Vidal Bruján, who was able to get three outs, but gave up a pinch-hit two-run homer to Patrick Wisdom in the process.

On the other side, the Marlins offense couldn't quite get to Shota Imanaga, who is the winning pitcher after going seven innings allowing two runs on four hits and two walks, and he struck out three batters. The only runs they scored were homers from Connor Norby and David Hensley. The offense in total managed just four hits.

This victory puts Chicago directly at .500 with a 65-65 record. They are currently five games behind for the third wild-card spot in the National League.

For Miami, this loss puts them at 46-83. They will attempt to avoid a sweep and a winless homestand tomorrow afternoon with Adam Oller on the mound against Javier Assad.
