One Reason Paul George is Better Fit for Philadelphia 76ers Than James Harden

The Philadelphia 76ers are being widely considered as Championship contenders for next season after signing Paul George on a four-year, $212 million deal in what has been a tremendous offseason for them.

Many fans believe that 'The Process' is now complete and it is finally time for the 76ers to start competing for the top prize.

We have been here before though, and the last time around, things did not go according to expectations for the 76ers.

It was back when the 76ers had brought in James Harden. He was believed to be the final piece of the jigsaw. We all know how that stint ended.

Incidentally, when Harden was traded by the 76ers, he ended up joining George at the Los Angeles Clippers.

So, it is understandable if many 76ers fans are reluctant to get too excited by the idea of George turning the team into Championship contenders.

Both George and Harden might be big-name players, but they bring different things to the table. This summer's arrival might actually be a much better fit for the 76ers.

Former 76ers player, Theo Ratliff, said while speaking on SiriusXM NBA Radio : "The one thing Paul George does that James Harden didn’t do is play defense. With the dynamics of having a scorer that has played in an All-Star role for a long time and also knows how to defer to other All-Stars, I think it’s a great acquisition."

Of course, George is a much better defender than Harden. That is not up for debate. At the same time, his ability to play with other All-Stars will be important as well, as he will be teaming up with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in Philly.

George is not someone who needs the game to revolve around him at all times. He can take a backseat and still get his buckets.
