Commanders' Dyami Brown's Rise Began In The Spring

For the Washington Commanders , the emergence of receiver Dyami Brown made trading former first-round pick Jahan Dotson that much easier. ... and the evidence displayed itself in this summer's preseason opener, a 20-17 loss to the Jets in which his connection with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels clicked early on.

Daniels’ big 42-yard bomb on the opening drive of the preseason stood out as a big play, but coach Dan Quinn started noticing the growth of the player during the spring.

“I thought you've seen some big plays from Dyami Brown through this training camp,” Quinn said. “There's actually some in the spring that got my attention, to say, 'Okay what's there?' And his ability to get on top of people and stay.

“He's got size, he's got length, so there's actually a good play in the one-on-ones that transferred into the game to go.”

Brown is entering a contract year and looks to finally establish himself as a viable contributor on the team. The emergence of rookie Luke McCaffrey and free agent Olamide Zaccheaus have solidified a receiver room - led by Terry McLaurin, of coursr - that seemed weak under former coach Ron Rivera.
