Just because it's a business doesn't mean it's not also personal, as evidenced by the "warning'' being issued by new Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jahan Dotson, fired back in a way at the Washington Commanders team that just traded him.

Hard feelings in the NFC East? That's normal. A trade between these two foes? Not exactly normal. Dotson's need to focus on the task at hand, which it making himself - as a first-round pick of Washington a couple of years ago - into the player he believes he's destined to be?

That's what matters most. But ... these two teams do of course play each other twice during the 2024 NFL season, which the first time rolling around on November 14.

    And then?

"I won't take it personal,'' Dotson said of the Commanders giving up on him, "until we play Washington.''

Will Dotson be able to show his former team that they made a mistake by trading him? That's the idea, but the truth - as the Commanders dealt him to the Eagles for a third-round pick and two seventh-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft (the Commanders also gave the Eagles a fifth-rounder) - is that Dotson never quite got the job done there, and was getting beat out for snaps by lesser talents.

In 29 games, in Washington, he totaled 84 receptions for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns. ... when the Commanders were counting on more. But here? He'll be another offensive supplement for a Jalen Hurts-led Eagles team that already has A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith at wide receiver plus Saquon Barkley at running back. ... and given that the Eagles will be big favorites over Washington? He'll be poised to get his revenge. Twice.
