Browns On the Bubble: 2 Who Struggled

The Cleveland Browns wrapped up their preseason with a 37-33 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night, ending with an 0-3 record. While the preseason is less about wins and more about player evaluations, not everyone made a positive impression in the finale.

Among those who struggled were safety Chase Williams and wide receiver Elijah Moore , both of whom encountered setbacks that could impact their standing as the Browns finalize their roster.

Safety Chase Williams, a late addition to the Browns after injuries depleted the safety position, had shown promise with six tackles in the previous game against the Minnesota Vikings. However, his performance against the Seahawks left much to be desired. Williams was the last line of defense on a 56-yard touchdown run by Seattle’s Kenny McIntosh .

Initially, Williams appeared to take an odd angle in pursuit but recovered enough to have a shot at stopping McIntosh. Unfortunately, a stiff arm from McIntosh allowed him to break free and reach the end zone, highlighting a missed opportunity for Williams to solidify his role.

Receiver Elijah Moore, expected to be a key weapon in the Browns' offense, also struggled to make an impact. With just one reception for seven yards and one rushing attempt for one yard, Moore's limited involvement raised questions about his fit in the offense. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has tried to get Moore going with end-around plays, but these have yielded minimal results, including just one yard against Seattle.

As Moore enters the final year of his contract, the pressure is on for him to find his footing and prove his value in a crowded receiver room.

With the preseason now behind them, the Browns face tough decisions as they finalize their 53-man roster. For Williams and Moore, the final preseason game served as a reminder of the challenges ahead and the work still needed to secure their roles in the upcoming season.
