The preseason has come to a close for the New York Jets and now the hard part begins - deciding on the 53 best players to carry for the 2024 season.

Following their 10-6 win over the New York Giants Saturday night, Jets head coach Robert Saleh understood the enormous task at hand for his organization, and why this year in particular may be tougher than most.

"You’re trying to figure out which ones you’re going to have to let go and which ones you’re going to keep," Saleh said. "Like I said, it’s not clear-cut. There’s a lot of players who are capable of being on the 53-man roster and there’s a lot of guys who represented themselves well throughout the entire training camp, even today. And so just going through and making sure that we’re making the right decisions for this organization and that’s about it."

Over the past few years, the Jets have been one of the popular teams to pick on when it comes to their waiver wires. New York has had to release some talented players and other organization have moved swiftly to grab them.

A sign that New York is doing something right in that regard.

As the Jets prepare for the next stage of decisions, though, the team understands that they already have an elite squad on the roster currently.

It's finding who the last five players are who will make the team overall.
