All of a sudden, Stanford's season-opening Friday Night game against TCU is only a few days away, and on the first Saturday of the college football season, ESPN's College GameDay pundits were making projections for the cross-conference clash. Stanford is viewed as a home underdog of a bit more than a touchdown, and the ESPN hosts certainly do not expect the Cardinal to defy the odds.

Broadcasting from Ireland ahead of the special season-opening clash between Georgia Tech and Florida State, all five of the on-air personalities took TCU to roll into Palo Alto and come away with a win. 85% of fans who voted on the matchup also picked TCU.

Even though they'll be playing a Big 12 foe, this will be Stanford's first game as a member of the ACC . They'll be looking to make a great first impression, and perhaps there could be some added motivation derived from the fact that this pregame discussion was attached to a thrilling matchup within Stanford's new conference.

Stanford has lost all three previous matchups against TCU, most recently a thrilling Alamo Bowl back in 2017. The other two matchups came by way of a home-and-home series in 2007 and '08, as TCU squeaked out a two-point win in California and dominated back at home. This time, we'll see if Stanford can snap the streak, and they'll have another chance in 2027 when they head out to Forth Worth for the reverse matchup.
