Summer Gains: Mavs’ Luka Doncic Looking Lean for NBA Season

Over the last few summers, Dallas Mavericks fans and NBA fans in general have obsessed over Luka Doncic's physical appearance. Despite securing five consecutive All-NBA First Team selections, Doncic's injuries he battles toward the end of each season leave people wondering if there's something more he could do with his training in the offseason.

On Saturday, Doncic participated in his good buddy Goran Dragic's farewell game in Slovenia as basketball legends from all over gathered to celebrate the 38-year-old's professional basketball career that spanned nearly two decades.

While watching the farewell game, casual spectators on social media took shots at Doncic's physical appearance, suggesting that the Mavs star had gained weight this summer while not taking his offseason training seriously. However, from our point of view, it's fairly obvious that Doncic's uniform for Dragic's event was a size or two bigger than it should have been, having a laid-back, baggy look to it.

If you're a Mavs fan trying to avoid the unnecessary Doncic negativity online, simply take a look at the photo he took with Dragic before this weekend's event. It's evident that Doncic has benefited from having most of the offseason away from basketball, being able to focus on recovering his body and working on his conditioning.

After making it to the NBA Finals for the first time in his career and falling short, Doncic has all the motivation in the world to come back with a vengeance in the 2024-25 NBA season. With Klay Thompson joining Doncic and Kyrie Irving this season, the Mavs will have a great opportunity to silence all their critics.
